Crosby Labs

Crosby_OliverOliver Crosby graduated from the Engineering College of the university in 1876. In 1882, he opened a small machine shop in St. Paul and, three years later, saw the business incorporated as the American Hoist and Derrick Co., one of the largest engineering plants in the Northwest. His company manufactured munitions extensively during the First World War, and furnished the U.S. government with modern machinery to construct the Panama Canal.
