Map and directions

Vivo, a collection of sandblasted and molded stone carvings, is a title that evokes images of living organisms (from biology) as well as a sense of liveliness and animation (from music). Displayed on the building side of six pillars facing the entrance to the New Science Wing of Hitchner Hall — a building known for work in biomedical sciences, marine sciences and animal health — the collection comprises four single square panels and two vertical triptytchs. The plaque for Vivo can be found inside the building’s lobby. Another set of sculptures by Haynes, Herma, can be seen on the Mall side of Lord Hall. Both collections were commissioned through the State of Maine Percent for Art Program.
