Statues of children playing in UMaine's rose garden

Sculpture Tour

The Sculpture Tour is a sampling of UMaine’s many works of art. Because the sculptures can be found throughout campus and include the University of Maine Museum of Art in Bangor, you will need to drive to the closest visitor parking areas to see all the works on the tour. A few of the sculptures are sited in pedestrian-only locations.

The tour is not inclusive of all sculpture on campus, but instead provides a sampling that represents different sculpture styles and motifs, artists and types of funding.

Maine’s Percent for Art law, enacted in 1979 to sponsor original art for newly constructed or renovated state-funded public buildings, has provided UMaine with significant pieces of art across campus for the public to enjoy.

Choose where to begin and savor these wonderful pieces of art for which UMaine — the state’s land grant and sea grant university — is the steward, for the benefit of the public.
