Map and directions

A stop in Bangor at the University of Maine Museum of Art provides an opportunity to enjoy the interesting works inside the facility, as well as this magnificent bronze casting located in the adjacent, well-designed outdoor garden-patio (season and weather permitting). Tall and majestic, the goddess — designed in 1938 — brings to mind ancient Norse mythological figures. A casting of the sculpture was exhibited at the 1939 New York World’s Fair. Iselin’s work is included in a number of collections including that of the Whitney Museum of Art. This piece came to the museum in 1999 through the estate of the artist’s widow.
