Life Finds A Way
Artist: Andreas von Huene, Maine
Grassy area in front of Rogers Hall
The artist refers to this 1997 sculpture as a “carved and polished granite megalith and seating,” and it does serve as a type of bench in front of the academic building named in honor of distinguished alumnus Lore Rogers, Class of 1896. The sculpture’s title reflects the flowing carved depressions in the granite and suggests a dynamic process. Von Huene, whose work draws on his background in both art and engineering, created this piece through the Percent for Art Program. His work is found in both private collections and public venues.
