Photo Copying/Printing/Scanning
Building-Wide Machine | Poster Printing | Small Office Printers
There is a large color copier/scanner/printer located in Room 248, Nutting Hall. You will need your MaineCard or your MaineStreet login information to access the copier.
This machine has the capability to scan documents in color or black and white and have the document sent to you via email. These scans can be sent as .jpg, .pdf, or .tiff.
The University of Maine System (UMS) Xerox copiers come with a managed printing solution called Papercut. Below are some important items that you should know regarding using them.
- You’ll need to use your Mobile Maine card or MaineStreet login to release all your print jobs at the Xerox copier. Please ensure your Maine Card is updated and provides Tap support as the Xerox devices will not support Swipe.
- Web Portal – You can manage your new Papercut account, request refunds, and more using the Papercut Web Portal.
At the Copier
- Visit a Xerox copier and Tap your MaineCard, a registered Mobile Credential device, or login using your MaineStreet login credentials.
- You should see three options – Print Release, Access Device, and Scan.
- Print Release is how you would print items you sent to the printer from your computer. Access Device is how you would make photocopies, and Scan is self-explanatory.
- Use the screen to adjust additional settings or change which account is charged.
There are three distinct departments for expense allocation, and you should see at least one of them:
- Faculty and Staff
- This category includes all faculty and staff members across the campus
- UMS05\UM Employee Print & Copy (5000156-00-58401-xxxxxxx)
- Student Employees
- This designation applies to undergraduate and graduate students employed by the University or its various units
- UMS05\UM Student Employee Print & Copy (5000156-00-58402-xxxxxxx)
- Research
- Reserved for staff or students who receive full or partial compensation from soft-funded research projects
- UMS05\UM Research Print & Copy (5000156-00-58403-xxxxxxx)
- While most users will see only one additional department added, a few employees may have multiple departments added based on their roles and responsibilities, particularly concerning grants and contracts.
- Research should only be selected for printing costs related to grants or contracts.
- Otherwise, for all other printing expenses, either UM Employee Print & Copy or UM Student Employee Print & Copy should be selected.
Report any problems to the Wildlife staff in Room 210. The copier paper in Room 248 is only for use in that copier. If you need copy paper for some purpose, please contact you advisor.
Poster Printing – Color Plotter
There is a color plotter in Nutting Hall that may be available to anyone in the College of Earth, Life, and Health Services for poster printing. You must work with Mark Austin, Room 208, to get your item printed. You will need a request form for an interdepartmental order (IDO).
If there is a printer in your office, this was provided by your supervisor and the staff cannot help you with jams, toner, or paper issues. You should check with your supervisor about ordering paper and toner. Do not take paper from Room 248 Nutting Hall.
