Other Useful Department Resources
Audio-Visual Equipment
The Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Conservation Biology has two laptops, an LCD projector, an overhead projector, a 35 mm slide projector, various display adapter dongles, pointers, and other video conferring equipment for instructional and research-related use (instructional use has priority). All projectors and equipment must be signed out on the Google Calendars and the equipment can be picked up in the main office – Room 210 Nutting – and also signed out on a paper log. We will use the log to track down lost equipment and you may be asked to replace the equipment.
Be sure to receive instruction in the use of this equipment if you are not completely familiar with its operation. Also, please report any damage, missing cords, etc. immediately so they can be addressed.
Audio-visual equipment and laptop computers may also be reserved through the Fogler Library.
Computer Facilities
There are computer clusters in Nutting Hall with a broad assortment of software applications including word processing, spreadsheets, database management software, statistical applications, and various specialized software. The computers are Windows-based and are connected to the College of Earth, Life, and Health Sciences network with direct access to the Internet. All students are assigned a College network computer account – see Mark Austin in Nutting Hall 208. The computers in Nutting Hall 254 are available only for students enrolled in surveying, remote sensing, and Geographic Information Systems courses or related research.

General tips:
- Start typing about one inch below the logo.
- Do not drop font below 12 point unless you know your audience has 20/20 vision or better.
- Generally, serif fonts are for “readability,” while sans-serif fonts are for “legibility.” Which is why, in print, sans-serif fonts are often used as the headline font and serif fonts are used for the body text.
- Generally, the University uses the Garamond font for the serif font and Helvetica for the sans-serif font.
- First line should be date then hit return four times and type name and address of recipient.
- Use a colon after “Dear XXXXXX:”.
- Use a comma after your closing “Sincerely,” or “Best regards,”.
- After closing, hit return four times and type your name and/or title this should mirror the four returns above in the third bullet.
- If you need the document to fit on one page, consider editing instead of decreasing margins and decreasing font.
