The 2018 Québec/Maine Number Theory Conference was held on the weekend of October 6-7 at the Université Laval in Québec.  Organized jointly by faculty at UMaine and ULaval, it featured lectures by an international group of mathematicians who do research in number theory.  More information may be found on the conference website.

Ramesh Gupta named Trustee Professor

In recognition of his innumerable contributions to the field of Statistics, Ramesh Gupta has been awarded a Trustee Professorship. The Trustee Professorships were established by the University of Maine System Board of Trustees to honor and support the scholarly endeavors of outstanding faculty.

In Memoriam: Clayton Dodge (1931-2017)

Clayton Dodge, Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at the University of Maine, died on January 22, 2017. Professor Dodge taught mathematics in the department from 1956-1997.  His obituary can be found here.

2016 Math Contest Winners

The Annual University of Maine Mathematics Contest took place in November.  The contest consisted of challenging calculus problems, to be completed over one weekend.  23 students participated.
