The Department of Mathematics & Statistics will host this year’s Maine/Québec Number Theory Conference on the weekend of October 2-3.  Held remotely this year due to the pandemic, the conference will feature 52 speakers from across the globe presenting their latest research in number theory.  For more information, please consult the conference website.

Mathematics major Abram Karam is one of ten undergraduates who have been named 2020 Outstanding Graduating Students at the University of Maine.  Abram works with Professor Peter Stechlinski in applied mathematics research, and he will be joining us in the fall as a Mathematics MA student.  Read the press release here.

Caroline Joyce Kennedy, longtime administrative assistant in the UMaine Department of Mathematics & Statistics, passed away on March 23, 2020.  For 28 years until her retirement in 1997, Caroline was the face of the math department.
