Incoming Fall 2026 students will receive their photo submission email invitations
beginning in early June throughout the end of August.

After your submitted photo is approved, you can set up your Mobile MaineCard right on your phone, wherever you happen to be.

How to Submit Your Photo
You cannot submit your photo directly from this page. To upload your photo, you must use the unique photo submission invitation link sent to your @maine.edu email. Never got an email? You might be too early in the process.

Attention: New Faculty/Staff Members
Please visit the MaineCard Office in-person with a valid
government ID to verify your employment details.

Photo Submission Guidelines

Please verify that your photo meets the following requirements before uploading your photo:

  • Cropped slightly above head to middle of chest
  • Taken against a plain, light background
  • Must be taken in color
  • No sunglasses, hats, headphones that distract from your face
  • Positioned directly facing the camera with eyes open
  • Clear photos only; blurry photos will be denied
  • Size must be no larger than 2MB in size

How to Submit Your Mobile MaineCard ID Photo (Students Only)

1️⃣ Check your @maine.edu email for your personal photo invite link. (Not there yet? Don’t panic—they are sent in batches up to 2 days before classes start).

2️⃣ Use Chrome, Edge, or Internet Explorer. Do not use Safari or Firefox—they will break the site!

3️⃣ Click your link and upload two things: your selfie AND a picture of your government ID.

4️⃣ Follow the photo guidelines listed above so your picture gets approved the first time.

Photo Submission FAQ’s

All photo submission links are sent to your fully activated @maine.edu email account.

  • Online photo submission is only for new & incoming students. If you are Faculty or Staff, please visit the MaineCard Office in person to have your photo taken.
  • Fall 2026 Students: Invitations are sent in batches from mid-July through August. It is normal for peers to receive their links before you do – don’t worry!
  • Missing your link? Check your spam or junk folder first.
  • Request your link: https://onlinephoto.transactcampus.net/.

Photos are approved as fast as they can be! Please remember that the MaineCard Office is closed on Saturday, Sunday, and any official university holidays.

The Photo Submission Committee will always provide a reason for a denied photo. Please submit a new one that matches the Photo Requirements and you should be good to go!

Typically a Driver’s License or Passport will work. If you are unsure, please visit our List of Acceptable Forms of Government-Issued ID.

Place both of your 2 Supporting Documents side-by-side and take a photo of them. Then upload your 1 photo in the ID Verification Document upload slot.

What type of government-issued ID to do I need to submit for my Mobile MaineCard?

Acceptable Forms of Government ID

  • U.S. State or Territory Driver’s License
  • U.S. Passport
  • U.S. Passport Card
  • U.S. Military ID Card
  • U.S. Federal or State Agency ID Card
  • Foreign Passport (must be in English)
