Student Photo Submission Guidelines
Ensure you follow the guidelines below:
- Cropped slightly above head to middle of chest
- Taken against a plain, light background
- Must be taken in color
- No sunglasses, hats, AirPods, or headphones
- Positioned directly facing the camera with eyes open
- Clear photos only; blurry photos will be denied
- Size must be no larger than 2MB in size

Step 1: Submit Your Student Photo & ID
Check your @maine.edu email
Look for your student Mobile MaineCard photo submission email. It contains your personal link to:
- Upload a photo for your Mobile MaineCard
- Verify your identity with a government-issued ID
You must use the unique link sent to your @maine.edu email.
Didn’t get the email?
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- Don’t see it? Request a new photo submission email.
- Requested a link manually and still no email? Contact us.

Step 2: Get Your Mobile MaineCard
The Mobile MaineCard is your official University of Maine ID. It lives in your phone’s digital wallet, such as Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, or Samsung Wallet. The University of Maine is a mobile-first campus, which means all MaineCards are issued digitally.
Before you begin, ensure the following is complete:
Step 1: Download eAccounts
Download the Transact eAccounts app.
Step 2: Sign In
Open Transact eAccounts and select:
Organization: University of Maine System
Portal: UM
Use your UMS username and password.
Having trouble signing in? Contact UMS IT Support for help.
Step 3: Add to Wallet
After signing in, click the Add to Wallet button.

Your Mobile MaineCard is ready to use on campus.
Your accounts or available funds will not appear in eAccounts until your semester begins.

*Please note that not everyone on the UMaine campus will qualify for a Mobile MaineCard and its benefits.
