AP article about college football camps cites UMaine-led hazing study
In an article about how fewer college football programs are leaving campus for training camps, the Associated Press spoke to University of Maine professor of higher education Elizabeth Allan about a study she conducted with colleague Mary Madden, which found that 57.1% of students reported hazing was most likely to happen off campus. Allan said the survey wasn’t limited to athletes and didn’t collect data specifically focusing on off-campus training sites, so it couldn’t determine whether there was any indication these types of camps increased the risk of hazing. USA Today, Bally Sports, The Toronto Star and other outlets shared the AP report.
