Allan discusses hazing in military with Fayetteville Observer

Professor of higher education Elizabeth Allan discussed hazing in the military with The Fayetteville Observer for a story titled “Research projects at Fort Bragg seek to reduce sexual harassment, assault.” One of the three projects at the North Carolina army base “targets hazing behavior in order to prevent sexual assault in the military,” Allan says there is a connection between sexual assault and hazing. “Research suggests that one in four men will experience sexual assault in their lifetime,” she said. “In the military, sexual victimization may come as a result of a group’s hazing or bullying practices, designed to humiliate the victim.”
