Digital Art, Animation

Giles Timms is a digital artist who combines various media and genres into new, hybrid art to explore the interrelationship between art, technology and science. He galvanizes various media and technology into grotesque and beautiful homunculi – Creeps (Крип). His mixed-media works incorporate surreal, local narratives that explore the vagaries of our human condition and comment on the terrific and terrifying absurdity of modern life.As an independent animator Giles has created animated music videos for Death Cab for Cutie, Flyleaf, Kady Z, and Barnaby Saints and designed animated titles and scenes for the indie films Silicone Soul, Lucky, Sunset Stories and Let Go. Giles’ animated films have won several film festival awards and his films have screened at South by Southwest, Sundance, the Los Angeles Film Festival, and on PBS and HBO.As an educator, Giles encourages students to embrace experimental failure when creating digital art and 2D animation. Originally from Wales, Giles has lived in Bulgaria and he graduated with an MFA in animation from UCLA.
