Maine An EncyclopediaTemple Post Office in the former Hodgkins General Store

The town of Temple was incorporated in 1803. Many early settlers formed a strong Quaker community, and many more settlers came later to work in Temple’s lumber industry. More recently, Temple has become popular among writers and artists, many of whom summer in the small town. Its small ponds and mountains make the town a peaceful and picturesque place to connect with nature, with Farmington’s conveniences just a little way down the road.
