Welcome to Carthage

The town of Carthage was first settled in 1812 and incorporated in 1826. The original settlers built mills to produce lumber from the area’s vast pine forests, and the community grew around these early mills. Today Carthage is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise, with close access to Mount Blue State Park, the Rangeley Lake area, and Western Maine’s mountains.
