Preble Street – Veterans Housing Services Caseworker (Bangor)
Description
Veterans Housing Services is currently seeking a full-time Caseworker in the Bangor office to provide services and outreach to veterans and their families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Responsibilities of this position include assisting veterans and veterans’ families in obtaining and maintaining stable housing through outreach and short-term, intensive case management. Outreach activities will take place in community shelters, food pantries, service centers, General Assistance Offices, and on the street. Case management activities will include making referrals and collaborating with other service providers; helping to navigate the human services and veterans’ services systems; assisting veterans in acquiring services; service coordination; and documentation and reporting of activities as required.
Requirements
Requirements include a BSW, BA, or equivalent experience in a helping profession. Additional requirements include knowledge of issues related to homelessness; a positive regard for consumers accessing services for homelessness and poverty; knowledge of community resources, including those specific to veterans; solid communication and organizational skills; ability to work well independently and as part of a team. This position also requires local and statewide travel on a regular basis.
Compensation
This position offers competitive pay at a rate of $15.70 per hour, which annualizes to $32,656.
