Research and Special Projects

The University of Maine School of Social Work faculty members are engaged in numerous research and special project activities.  Social work faculty have a commitment to active engagement in research that informs their teaching, enhances client services, advises social policy initiatives, and contributes valuable knowledge to the profession.  We integrate research, teaching, and social work practice — building strong linkages between out faculty, students and the wider community. Our wide-ranging research appears in a variety of academic publications and our faculty members are recognized nationally and internationally for their work in such areas as aging, disability, Indian child welfare, international social work, mental health, poverty, and trauma.  See our most recent research news stories in our News and Events section.
