The University of Southern Maine seeks applicants for the full-time, grant-funded position of Campus Safety Project Coordinator on the Porltand campus.

The Campus Safety Project Coordinator position is funded through a U.S. Department of Justice grant to create a safer campus environment by reducing the occurrence of sexual assault and intimate partner violence while enhancing community responsibility for addressing interpersonal violence through an integrated, collaborative approach. The Coordinator will join an already established Steering Committee and experienced Grant Leadership team to continue to enhance primary prevention education and training, and outreach and awareness for students, staff, faculty, and law enforcement; improve and increase student awareness of resources; increase access to community based victim services through referrals to counseling and advocacy; review or update reporting protocols including the response to interpersonal violence on campus. Implementation of a Bystander Intervention program will be an ongoing priority.  The office location is on the Portland campus with expectation of work/service in Portland, Gorham and at Lewiston-Auburn College.

Required:

• A minimum of a B.A./B.S. in a related field, such as public health, social work, or other relevant discipline, or three years full-time professional experience in primary prevention services, preferably in a college/university setting
• Experience with providing victim services, primary prevention, or training regarding sexual assault, stalking, dating violence, and/or domestic violence

Preferred:

• Experience/knowledge working with college students; working in an academic setting
• Experience working with traditionally underserved or marginalized populations, students from diverse racial, class, ethnic, national, and cultural backgrounds, students with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ students
• Experience and training with the Green Dot Bystander Intervention program
• Experience with event planning or programming, public speaking, and meeting or group facilitation.
• Experience supervising student employees and interns
