JOB SUMMARY: The Youth & Family Services Manager (YFSM) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker responsible for the development, oversight, coordination, delivery, and clinical leadership for Healing Tree programming and services at all Dempsey Center sites. This includes the planning, implementation and evaluation of programming and services for youth and families impacted by cancer based on evidence-based practice, as well as the needs and interests of clients as identified through ongoing assessment and evaluation. This role involves the direct provision of clinical mental health services to youth and their families, including counseling, consultation, developing and leading support groups and support/skill building workshops. In addition to youth and family clients, a small caseload or adults impacted by cancer may be carried (maximum of 20% of caseload) as client volume and organizational need dictates. The Youth & Family Services Manager functions as an active member of the Dempsey Center Management team, providing a psychosocial perspective specifically related to the provision of services to youth in policy and program development. This position is part of the Dempsey Center Leadership Team and is responsible for supervising Dempsey Center clinical staff working with youth and family clients.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES.
  • Master of Social Work degree required
  • LCSW in state of Maine required, OSW-C strongly preferred
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience necessary, including at least 1 year working with youth and families. Experience in outdoor education, experiential learning or wilderness therapy a plus.
  • Experience working in oncology, palliative care or hospice strongly preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to act as clinical leader in facilitating outdoor adventure based therapeutic programming, including week-long therapeutic summer camp program for adolescent cancer caregivers, Space to Breathe, and twice annual Teen Adventure Day trips.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people – junior and senior, for-profit and nonprofit, and from diverse backgrounds
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are essential including group presentation
  • Passionate about the Dempsey Center’s mission and impact
  • Skilled in providing clinical supervision and coaching; be visible, approachable and serve as a sounding board/resource
  • Operates with excellence in mind in all matters, with the confidence to defend/debate ideas without ego interfering
