Proposal Approval Routing System (PARS)
PARS is the University of Maine’s internal Proposal Approval Routing System. It provides a snapshot of the project to senior personnel of the project as well as associated Chairs, Directors and Deans and captures project approval from these individuals. Please note, all PARS approvals must be obtained before a proposal is submitted to the sponsor.
Principal Investigators will initiate a proposal in PARS by submitting a Notice of Intent. Once the Notice of Intent is submitted, PIs should then complete the Project Information Section of PARS with the exception of the financials and submission number. The financials and submission number will be completed by the ORA proposal staff after a budget is finalized and approved. Finally, PIs will need to add all required approvers prior to routing the proposal.
Note: All PIs must complete the UMS Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) training prior to being given access to PARS. More about the training requirement, including policy and resources, can be found on the University’s Office of Research Compliance (ORC’s) Conflict of Interest page.
Getting Help
Each of the major screens at the PARS site has a help screen associated with it. Click the “Help” link at the top right side of the page. The help text will load in a separate window so that the session will not be interrupted. [Note: some popup blockers may disable this feature until configured to accept popups from the PARS site.] In addition, ORA staff will be glad to answer any questions by phone. For technical issues or suggestions for improvement of the site, call or email Kevin Wentworth (kevin.wentworth@maine.edu,581-4946).
IMPORTANT
Note, PARS privileges will be suspended or denied, respectively, to any current or new Investigator or approver who has not completed the CITI Financial Conflict of Interest training.
