Waste study cited in BDN article on compost, sustainability

A 2011 waste characterization study by the University of Maine School of Economics was cited in the Bangor Daily News article, “What it would take for Maine to compost its way to sustainability.” The study found about 43 percent of what Mainers send to landfills and incinerators is compostable, and two-thirds of that waste is food, according to the article. The study also was cited in the Portland Press Herald article, “Turn your food waste into a potluck party.”
