Apply for UMaine Extension Master Gardener Volunteers training

Jan. 15 is the deadline to apply for University of Maine Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Volunteers program training in Androscoggin, Sagadahoc and Oxford counties.

The 14-week training will be held 1–4 p.m. Thursdays from Feb. 25 to May 26, at the UMaine Extension office, 24 Main St., Lisbon Falls.

The program provides participants with at least 40 hours of in-depth training in the art and science of horticulture. Trainees receive current, research-based information from Extension educators and industry experts. In return, trained Master Gardeners volunteer their time and expertise for related activities in their communities.

The fee for the course and materials is $220. Information and applications are online. Accepted applicants will be notified by Feb. 1.
