Position Opening: Computational Modeling of Nanoscale Thermal Radiation

Laboratory/Faculty: Thermal Radiation Laboratory, Dr. Edalatpour

Opening Type: PhD/MS Project

Topics: Thermal radiation, nanoscale heat transfer, computational modeling

There is currently an open position in my research group for a PhD or a master’s student for Spring or Fall 2019. The research project is concerned with computational modeling of thermal radiation at multiple length scales in order to understand the physics governing thermal emission by advanced composite media. This project is interdisciplinary combining mechanical engineering, solid-state physics, electromagnetics and materials science.  The student should have excellent background in thermal science and computational modeling and be willing and able to learn and apply new concepts from the abovementioned disciplines. The student should be self-motivated and able to work independently. He/She should be proficient in English especially in technical writing. If you are interested and qualified, please send me your CV, your transcripts, a brief statement of interest, and the name and contact information of three references via email (sheila.edalatpour@maine.edu).
