Graduate Faculty Criteria

Graduate Faculty members at the University of Maine are involved in graduate admissions, graduate curriculum and program development, teaching graduate courses, and graduate advising on thesis and dissertation committees, among other responsibilities. Graduate Faculty appointment is made according to criteria established by each institutional unit. The criteria specify expectations related to scholarship, graduate teaching, and service for each category of membership.

All units in CLAS that oversee graduate programs of study have established criteria for Graduate Faculty appointment. Additionally, some units with undergraduate programs of study only have established criteria for Graduate Faculty appointment.
