UMaine study examines long-term emotional impacts of school bullying among girls

College-age women who were bullied in middle or high school continue to feel a range of negative emotions, including anxiety and lack of self-confidence, years after their experiences. But according to a new study from researchers at the University of Maine, some are also able to find positive gains and growth, as they feel pride at overcoming being bullied and moving forward with their lives as young adults.

NASPA awards honor Allan, Caron-produced video

A short video written and produced by professor of family relations and human sexuality Sandra Caron received the Outstanding Peer Education Program Award at the 2021 NASPA General Assembly. In addition, professor of higher education Elizabeth Allan has been awarded the NASPA Region 1 Outstanding Contribution to the Literature and/or Research Award for 2021.

Media highlight Caron, Mitchell sexual assault study

WMTW (Channel 8, Portland) reported on a new paper by Sandra Caron, a professor of family relations and human sexuality in the College of Education and Human Development, and Deborah Mitchell, a retired University of Maine police officer, that outlines the reasons many victims do not tell anyone about being sexually assaulted.
