Hilary-Lynn McCabe: Social Justice in Higher Education Award
The Social Justice in Higher Education Award is presented to a graduating student in the student development in higher education master’s program who has demonstrated deep and consistent commitment to understanding, analyzing, and advancing both theory and practice related to diversity, inclusivity, and social justice in higher education as evidenced by both academic and co-curricular pursuits and accomplishments during their graduate studies.
The 2021 recipient of this award, Hilary-Lynn McCabe (she/her) holds a B.A. in communication from Purdue University and an M.A. in applied linguistics from Indiana University. A love for identity development and serving students brought her to Maine to study student development in higher education. During her time at UMaine, Hilary has had the pleasure to work with the Higher Education program, the Office for Diversity and Inclusion, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the Center for Student Involvement. She looks forward to a career supporting and affirming students and building inclusive communities.
In her free time, Hilary enjoys being a plant mom, jammin’ on her planner, and hiking. She is grateful to have spent these two years in such a beautiful state!
Hilary would like to thank her cohort and faculty advisor, Kathleen Gillon, for all of their support!
