Growout Facilities at CCAR
We have a number of larger rearing systems available for industry projects, as nurseries, for feed trials, or for grow out of fish to market. Units 2&3, pictured below, were newly refitted in 2006. Each rearing unit has nine circular tanks supported with an independent RAS. The tanks each hold 14.4 m3 of water (about 3,800 gallons), and when stocked out at full carrying capacity the two systems combined can hold about 13,000 kg (28,665 lbs) of fish. In 2007-08 Units 2&3 were used by Great Bay Aquaculture as a cod nursery prior to stocking the fish at a nearby ocean lease site.
