Changing technologies (e.g., AI), students (e.g., learning post-COVID) and demands for time (e.g., faculty workloads) make it more critical than ever to provide meaningful and substantive opportunities for engagement with students in your classes.   In this practice-based learning community participants will research, design and implement new engagement strategies using each other as a test group for feedback and optimization. Using Barkley’s Student Engagement Techniques: A Handbook for College Faculty as a guide (provided), participants will walk away with a set of new ideas for their classrooms and at least one new strategy that has been reviewed and beta tested before it is (re-)used in the classroom.  We will also consider metrics to measure the efficacy of new teaching interventions on student engagement.
