Meet the Career Center Staff

Crisanne Blackie
Director

Crisanne Kadamus Blackie is the Director of the Career Center. She completed her M.Ed. in Student Personnel Administration at Springfield College and a Baccalaureate degree at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. In addition, Crisanne is National Certified Counselor, Certified Career Counselor, Board Certified Coach, Distance Certified Counselor and a trained mediator. With over 20 years of experience in the field of Career Development, Crisanne has worked in both higher education and the private sector. Her business experience includes working for a student loan corporation and a technology company. She has worked as a career consultant, has published several articles and has been a contributing author to 2 books. Crisanne enjoys working with all students and specializes in working with pre-professional students especially those who wish to pursue a career in healthcare. All students are encouraged to stop by the Career Center to explore their options.

Kate Axelsen Foster
Assistant Director, Employer Relations

Kate Axelsen Foster is our Assistant Director for Employer Relations. For over twelve years, she has enjoyed working in student affairs, helping students transition from college to careers. Kate completed her M.Ed. in Student Development in Higher Education, with a Concentration in Counseling, at the University of Maine while interning at the Career Center. It was here that she discovered her passion for career services. Kate has worked in residence life here at UMaine, as well as the University of Southern Maine, Syracuse University, and Colby-Sawyer College. Kate also worked for Tyler Technologies for 2 years before returning to higher education. Kate received her bachelor’s degree at Roger Williams University. She is originally from Falmouth, Maine. Kate enjoys working with employers to recruit and hire UMaine talent, and helping students explore and achieve their strengths, talents, and career options.

Lisa Carter
Senior Career Counselor, Pre Law Advisor

Lisa is a Senior Career Counselor at the Career Center, while also specializing in assisting students and alumni interested in applying to law school. Lisa has over 17 years’ experience working in Student Affairs and is passionate about helping students succeed. She is eager to help students make connections between their interests and future careers. Lisa has a Master’s degree in Recreation and Leisure Services from Texas State University and is currently working towards a Ph.D. in Higher Education at the University of Maine. She enjoys spending her free time outdoors hiking, biking, kayaking, sailing and skiing. She lives in Milford with her husband and two children.

Robin Delcourt
STEM and Health Professions Career Counselor

Robin Delcourt is the STEM and Health Professions Career Counselor. Robin is in her 25th year working in higher education. She completed her M.S. in Adult Education with concentrations in Student Affairs in Higher Education and Counseling at the University of Southern Maine. Prior to joining the Career Center, Robin served as Executive Assistant to the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost at UMaine for over 12 years where she appreciated the opportunity to connect with a wide variety of students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the broader University of Maine community. Prior to coming to UMaine, she worked at the University of Southern Maine as the Associate Director of Graduate Admissions and in an administrative and advising role in the Department of Sports Medicine in the College of Nursing and Health Professions. She enjoys working directly with students, and is passionate about helping them with the realization of their career and life goals.

Beth Campbell
Coordinator for Internships and Experiential Learning

Beth Campbell is the Coordinator of Internships and Experiential Learning at the Career Center. Beth has a B.S. in Biology and a M.S. in Marine Biology, both from the University of Maine. In addition to her love of science, Beth is a lifelong educator. She worked as a teacher and administrator at two independent high schools in Maine for over 20 years before joining UMaine in 2022 as the Education, Outreach, and Diversity Program Manager at Maine EPSCoR. Beth joined the UMaine Career Center in October 2024 and is excited to support students at both the Machias and Orono UMaine campuses in their career development, specifically in exploring internships and experiential learning opportunities. In her free time, Beth enjoys hiking with her husband, gardening, and spending time with her two children, cats, and chickens.

Benjamin Collette
Career Services Coordinator

Benjamin Collette is the Career Services Coordinator. Benjamin has an undergraduate degree from Western Carolina University in Natural Resources Conservation and Management with a minor in Parks and Recreation Management and a Master’s in Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Sports Management from NC State University. Benjamin’s previous positions involved various natural resource based organizations, five years in the Marine Corps, NC Cooperative Extension, managing a trails program for Wabanaki youth and now the University of Maine.


Erick Oquendo De Jesus

Hello everyone, my name is Erick Oquendo De Jesus. I am a wildlife ecology major with a concentration in conservation biology. I am a transfer junior at UMaine and moved here from Connecticut. I currently work as a Peer advisor at the Career Center, where we can help students with their resumes, cover letters, careerlink, and even LinkedIn. My role is to help students with these services while offering the point of view and comfort of being one of their peers.
