Free Dinner & Dialogue 6-8pm Hindu Mythology with Prateek Kunwar

October 12, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Come explore Hindu Mythology with graduate student Prateek Kunwar.  Prateek writes:
From being atheistic to mono-theistic and poly-theistic, one of the oldest religions in the world, offers a myriad perspectives on the philosophies of life and righteousness. With over 330 million Gods, built upon the central idea of “Brahman” – the unifying vibration that permeates all of creation, Hinduism is accepting of the dichotomy that surrounds us. Today, we will be talking about Hindu mythology, the two major epics, and the dialogues in the Bhagvad Gita. Since Oct 12th is the day after Dusshera/Dashami/Dasain, the last day of a 10 day celebration of the victory of good over evil, we will also be making and painting “diyas” (temporary candles made of salted dough) to celebrate !
About Prateek: Prateek is from Siliguri in East india, Delhi in North India and Maine. He is a master’s student in Mathematics at UMaine and also work as a TA for the department. In his free time he loves to read and write, cook and eat, hike and run, listen to music and sleep.
