UMaine and UMaine Machias to use Gutenberg by July 2024
We began training users in the Gutenberg editor in June 2023, and earlier this year ended our recurring trainings for the older “Classic” editor and Content Blocks. Effective July 2024, the “Classic editor” in WordPress will be shut down for pages and posts, and the Gutenberg editor will become the default for new content creation.

Cooperative Extension content managers — stay tuned
The rollout of the Gutenberg editor has just begun for Cooperative Extension websites due to a technical glitch solved by our recent upgrade to WordPress 6. For this reason, we are working with the web team in Cooperative Extension to manage the transition to Gutenberg. A date for the switchover to the Gutenberg editor will be announced at a future date.
