Welcome to Oakfield

The town of Oakfield was first settled in 1831 and incorporated in 1897. The town was once an important railroad hub, where the two lines of the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad parted on their way up to Ashland and Houlton. In the 1930s, as many as 16 passenger trains passed through Oakfield daily! (Source)
