Oliverian School is an alternative, college-preparatory boarding high school for bright adolescents who have not felt at home in traditional settings. Our supportive academic and student-life program helps students embrace their unique identity, purpose, and voice so that they can contribute to any situation and find their place in the world.

Position Summary: Part of Oliverian’s mission is to provide consistent and effective therapeutic and mentoring support to both students and their families. Our goals include educating students, families, and staff about mental health to help reduce stigma and increase effective support. Oliverian Counselors provide counseling in creative, adaptive and flexible ways to maximize emotional, social and physical well-being of the student. Counselors work with a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, and assist with coordinating student care through a continuum of care facilitating student’s skill building and growth. Position is 10-months.

Key Responsibilities:

●      Treatment Planning: Develops and implements treatment plans for students.

●      Counseling: Provides individual therapy to each student on their caseload to reach therapeutic goals. Monitoring weekly functioning of each student as it relates to social, emotional, and academic needs. Develop and facilitate adolescent support or

psycho-educational groups. Provides parent coaching when needed and family work as it relates to preparing for school breaks, or as family situations arise.

●      Documentation of Services: Maintains ongoing documentation of student interventions. This includes documentation of phone calls with home providers and educational consultants.

●      Supervision/Collaboration: Participates in ongoing peer supervision and collaboration with colleagues. Advising the interdisciplinary team regarding a student’s psychosocial strategy, balancing the need for confidentiality and therapeutic trust with the need for an effective interdisciplinary circle of confidentiality.

●      Post-Graduate Support: Provides remote and/or in-person coaching to graduates to support their transition to college and help them access local support services.

●      Education: Participates in planning, developing, and implementing wellness education. Helps to identify and provide resources for staff for ongoing development. Engage in continued education efforts related to counseling best practices.

●      Other Duties: Participates in student life through rotations as respite staff and in school events, committees, electives co-teaching and other related activities.

The ideal candidate will:

●      Be licensed or license ready in the state of New Hampshire.

●      Love working with adolescents.

●      Have provided therapy in a school setting or within a community model.

●      Be comfortable and experienced with a wide range and intensity of mental health issues, including safety assessment and planning.

●      Communicate clearly and consistently with all necessary stake-holders and maintain organized and detailed clinical documentation.

●      Have a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related degree.

●      Have knowledge of, and experience utilizing, various therapeutic modalities. Knowledge of Evidence Based Practices and a willingness to engage in Practice Based Evidence, as well as other related clinical assessment skills.
