Maine Behavioral Healthcare (MBH) is the leading behavioral health provider in Maine and operates the
Center for Autism and Developmental Disorders in South Portland. Employing a team of highly trained,
well–respected clinicians, the Center provides compassionate, expert care to patients. The NEW Center of Excellence, projected to open in August 2021 in Portland, is a full–service integrated
treatment, research, and training center to meet the needs of Maine families, generate new treatment
models, and advance autism science for the benefit of all. New and expanded services include child and
adult outpatient clinics, preschool and K–12 day treatment, and early intervention in–home services. In a bold move to expand and elevate care for the more than 40,000 Maine children and adults with autism or another developmental disorder, Maine Behavioral Healthcare (MBH), part of the MaineHealth system of care, will open a Center of Excellence this August. Construction of the 28,000
square foot facility began last year on the campus of Spring Harbor Hospital at a cost of nearly $15
million. Since opening in 2014, the current Center has grown to serve more than 250 patients annually 5 to 20
years old. We will now transform the Center into a Center of Excellence by building a new 28,000 square
foot building that will provide evidence–based care to create measurable improvement in the lives of
our patients, engage in research to advance the field, and train clinical students to create the next
generation of providers for Maine. MaineHealth values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. Federal and state laws prohibit discrimination in employment because of race, color, national origin, religion, age, sex,
sexual orientation, disability or veteran status.
