The “Ugly Holiday Sweater Contest” – Decision-making in Large Groups!
During the last meeting for the SWK 395 Junior Field Experience classes, Nancy Kelly (SWK 395 instructor and Field Education Director) and Katrina Duncan (MSW student and Graduate Assistant) used an “Ugly Holiday Sweater Contest” to teach students about the use of nominal group technique for decision-making with large groups. Students and faculty attended class in “Ugly Holiday Sweaters” and the classes used nominal group procedures to vote on the best “Ugly Holiday Sweater.” Students looked very impressive in their sweaters!
