Diversity and Inclusion
SLC 2020 D&I Mission Statement
The Spring Leadership Conference of 2020 is dedicated to upholding the diversity and inclusivity standards of the University of Maine and NACURH. We will do all that we can do to ensure everyone attending the conference feels welcome and appreciated. The University of Maine is a Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Institution and and does not discriminate on the grounds of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, transgender status, gender expression, national origin, citizenship status, age, disability, genetic information or veteran’s status in employment, education, and all other programs and activities. NACURH and its representatives will protect individuals and institutions from undue bias and influence stemming from circumstances that are removed from the direct control of our student members. By reflecting these expectations, the conference staff can do their part in making attendees feel at home.
If any conference attendees need additional accommodations in order to make the conference more accessible, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page.
Provided Accommodations that do not Require a Request
Sensory Decompression Room
The conference staff recognizes that the conference will provide a lot of stimulus that can become overwhelming at times for attendees. There will be a room in the Memorial Union on Saturday of conference. This room will be minimally stimulating and provide a space for people to relax from the high energy environment the conference creates. Anyone may use this room without need to provide explanation. However, if an attendee cannot respect the rules of the room, then they will be asked to leave. Exact location and hours of the room will be provided on guidebook and the schedule.
Private Prayer Space
There is a Chapel located on the third floor of the Memorial Union. This space is open to anyone who would like to use it as a place of prayer, meditation, or personal reflection.
