Jennifer Swalec, Ph.D.
Jennifer Swalec (she/her/hers) is responsible for supporting all aspects of the grant proposal development process at the University of Maine. As a Proposal Development Associate for Special Projects, she assists researchers from all disciplines with advancing their research and scholarship by identifying funding opportunities, facilitating new collaborations, creating proposal development strategies and timelines, composing non-technical elements of proposals, and offering constructive feedback on proposals in development. Jennifer also serves as the ORD’s primary contact for Postdoctoral Research Associates at the University of Maine.
Jennifer earned a Ph.D. in Classics from Brown University and B.A. in Classics from the University of Virginia. As a writer, editor, and translator, she values precise, compelling prose. Jennifer previously spent many years teaching ancient languages (Greek and Latin) and history at both the college and K-12 levels. She is delighted to return to the University of Maine, where she completed her first two college courses as a local high school student: (1) Pacific Northwest Coast Native American Art and (2) Calculus.
