Birds of the Bog
The diversity of plant life in the Orono Bog means that a diversity of birds can also exist. The following list is still “a work in progress.” If you find a species not on this list, please e-mail your finding, and supporting details to Jim Bird.
Check this website for updates on bird sightings. Newest sightings are at the beginning of the list. The name of each bird is a link that will take you to a photo and more information on that bird, including a recording of its song and tips for identification. These bird links are from Gough, G.A., Sauer, J.R., Iliff, M. Patuxent Bird Identification Infocenter. 1998. Version 97.1. Patuxent Wildlife Research Center, Laurel, MD.
