Administrative Support

Pre-Award Services

Pre-Award Services is responsible for the review, processing and submission of proposals to external sponsors; negotiations, formal acceptance, and execution of awards; and project account set-up in PeopleSoft consistent with award conditions and University cost sharing obligations.

Post Award & Fiscal Services

Post-Award and Fiscal Services serves as liaison between the university and external sponsors once an award has been made, assisting faculty and staff with cradle-to-grave project administration including: contract and subcontract negotiation, project set-up and monitoring, modification of awards, project invoicing and accounting, financial and effort reporting and project close-out activities.

Office of Research Compliance

In accordance with federal regulations and University policies, this unit oversees research compliance related to human subjects, animal care, biosafety, responsible conduct of research, financial conflict of interest, and export controls.

Reporting & Information Management

The Reporting & Information Management unit develops, maintains, and administers several data systems, including the Proposal Approval Routing System (PARS), which comprise the University of Maine’s proposal processing, award management, workflow, and document management systems. The unit reports grant activity, research expenditures, and facilities capacity to the University, the Federal government, and to other national statistical gatherers such as ASEE and US News and World Report.
