BDN report’s on Fuller’s retirement, legacy in garlic research, education

The Bangor Daily News reported on the retirement and legacy of Dave Fuller, a nontimber agriculture professional with University of Maine Cooperative Extension. For nearly a quarter-century, Fuller has been teaching untold numbers of people ages 5 to 90 how to grow hardneck garlic. Together with UMaine Extension crops specialist Steven Johnson, Fuller also executed several garlic research projects, including the latest, a three-year study of the effects of scape removal at different growth stages on the size of the harvested bulb. His work helped it become a staple in Maine gardens.
