Ellsworth American interviews Calderwood about wild blueberry season

Lily Calderwood, a University of Maine Cooperative Extension blueberry specialist, spoke with the Ellsworth American about how blueberry farmers fared this season, particularly after facing frost and drought. “This has been a challenging year for all of Maine’s 485 wild blueberry growers,” said Calderwood, also an assistant professor of horticulture with the School of Food and Agriculture at UMaine, said Sept. 11. “Many farmers were hit by three frosts during crop bloom and from then to now we have been dealing with a severe drought.”
