AP reports UMaine to receive NASA grant to study forest health

The Associated Press reported the University of Maine will receive a nearly $750,000 grant from the National Aeronautic and Space Administration to study the quality, health and value of forestland in Maine. The three-year project is led by Parinaz Rahimzadeh, an assistant professor of remote sensing of natural resources at UMaine, and is expected to provide information on the composition of Maine’s forest and on damage caused by recent outbreaks of pests and pathogens, the report states.
