What is Brightspace?

The Brightspace learning environment replaces Blackboard. It is a learning management system (LMS) that hosts student instructors’ courses online. Brightspace allows students to manage their course work and utilize other tools that are similar to their course work in Blackboard. You can access Brightspace tutorials and information in a self-paced course made for UMaine students. If you are already enrolled click here. If not, follow the directions below to sign up.

  1. Log into the UMaine portal at my.campus.maine.edu
  2. In the LaunchPad click on the Brightspace icon
  3. From the top blue navbar
  4. Click on Discover
  5. Then click on the UM Brightspace101 for Students
