Rachel Collins teaches English with the Intensive English Institute (IEI) at the University of Maine . Raised in New Hampshire, she attended colleges in Missouri and South Carolina and worked in New Hampshire public schools before earning her TEFL certification to teach English in South Korea. She left South Korea to teach at a mission school in Haiti. After Haiti, Rachel returned to working in NH public elementary schools and then the University of Maine. Rachel loves teaching, and appreciates the challenges of the English language; several years of working and living with English-language learners helps give her compassion and insight into students’ situations.

Although Rachel enjoys being outside, she prefers southern climates. She likes reading, drawing, and getting to know the Orono area with her husband.
