My experience as an international student at the University of Maine has been nothing short of transformative. From the friendships forged to the knowledge gained, I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a vibrant and welcoming community.

There are always times when I ask myself, why I am here, and why I am doing my major. There are times when I can not see how this part of life would fit in with my future. However, the people I met here never made me doubt my choice in choosing UMaine!!! We are all here learning together and learning from each other.

I think UMaine’s education had a big role to play in building up the first steps to who I am striving to become. In other words, UMaine gave an opportunity to learn from many great people who have taught me and challenged me to dig and think deeper.

Save the Date for Culturefest 2024!
Join us on Saturday, November 2 from 11am to 3pm in the New Balance Recreation Center for Culturefest. Culturefest features international foods, cultural exhibits, children’s’ activities, and a style show. More information can be found here.
International Student Coffee Hour
UMaine President Joan Ferrini-Mundy engaged with UMaine international students during the International Coffee Hour, a UMaine tradition for over 40 years! An exchange of stories and experiences took place over scoops of ice cream, fostering camaraderie and meaningful connections.

Brothers Tega and Ruona Dibie stopped by Coffee Hour for a surprise visit! Tega earned a Bachelor’s degree in August 2014 and returned to UMaine in the Fall 2015 to pursue a Master’s degree in Spatial Information Science & Engineering.
