Why become an innovate for Maine fellow?

Innovate for Maine is not your typical internship program. Here, you’ll develop concrete innovation skills and work directly with dynamic entrepreneurial and innovative Maine companies. What you learn with us will help you after graduation and beyond, and your work will help grow Maine’s economy.

At your placement, you won’t be doing menial tasks that don’t contribute to your growth. We work with businesses that value innovation and you’ll be part of a team that is counting on your help to succeed. These companies are committed to growing in Maine and you can be a part of their journey.

In any job, you must be able to solve problems and then communicate, implement, and execute solutions. Employers are seeking these skills and our innovation training provides them. Being able to innovate sets you apart and will set you up for meaningful career opportunities. You will also build your network. It starts with your cohort of fellows and includes business leaders and entrepreneurs from across the state, Innovate for Maine alumni, and many others.

Even though you grew up here or decided to attend school here, you may not know how much the state has to offer. Innovate for Maine will help you understand how Maine can be part of your future. Many program alumni have gone on to take jobs that evolved from their fellowships, some with established companies and many with startups. Other alumni have gone on to found their own businesses in the state (and hired Innovate for Maine fellows to help grow them).
