Why is group work so hard?

Having our students work collaboratively in our courses is an effective way to increase engagement and learning.  Yet, many faculty and students dislike group work. Designing and implementing group work requires considerations of many factors.  We will discuss the merits of collaborative learning, different types of collaborative learning and the factors to consider when designing group projects in your courses.
