Janet Corcoran: Outstanding Scholarly-Practitioner in Educational Leadership Ed.D. Student Award
The Outstanding Scholarly-Practitioner in Educational Leadership Ed.D. Student Award is presented to a student in the University of Maine’s Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) program in educational leadership who has demonstrated a deep dedication to being a steward in the field of education. The recipient understands the importance of connecting theory to practice, addresses inequities through their problem of practice and remains dedicated to their graduate studies to improve outcomes for the communities they serve.
Statement from the Educational Leadership faculty:
Janet Corcoran is the 2023 recipient of the Outstanding Scholarly-Practitioner in Educational Leadership Ed.D. Student Award from the Credo cohort. Janet serves as special education director for RSU 13 in Rockland, Maine. Her Ed.D. problem of practice centers around retention of special education teachers and education technicians. Janet pushes her cohort to think about special education from an organizational perspective. She is a supportive colleague and models all the best qualities of equity-minded educational leaders. The University of Maine Educational Leadership program is proud to support her ongoing development as a scholarly practitioner.
