Governance
The University of Maine College of Education and Human Development believes in shared governance, where faculty play a role in strategic decision-making and institutional priorities. The documents below, including the college bylaws and promotion and tenure guidelines, structure how the college’s schools and programs, as well as individual faculty members, can achieve their goals. At the heart of our mission is a commitment to education and building a base of knowledge for students, families, teachers, schools, and higher education institutions in Maine and around the country to succeed.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some tenure-track faculty are eligible to use the college’s previous promotion and tenure criteria, adopted in 2012. The previous criteria document is available below. Please check with your school director to make sure you are using the correct criteria for promotion and tenure.
More information about the University of Maine’s post-tenure review policy can be found on the Post-Tenure Review page on the Human Resources website.
